Education & Training
Education is one of the core pillars of Alberta Veterinary Dentistry.
Because of our commitment to advancing veterinary dentistry, you may occasionally see veterinary students, veterinary technicians and assistance in training, or veterinarians pursuing advanced training working alongside our team.
These individuals visit AVD to observe, learn, and develop their skills in veterinary dentistry and anesthesia. This type of hands-on exposure helps improve the overall standard of dental care available to pets across the profession.
All trainees work under the direct supervision of our experienced veterinarians and technicians, and their involvement is always appropriate to their level of training.
Your pet’s comfort, safety, and quality of care remain our highest priorities.
By supporting education, AVD helps ensure that more pets receive better dental care in the future.

Not Sure Where to Start?
If you are unsure which service your pet needs, there are two easy ways to begin.
Visit Your Primary Veterinarian
Your family veterinarian can examine your pet and determine whether advanced dental care or referral to Alberta Veterinary Dentistry is needed.
Schedule a Dental Consultation with our General Dentistry Service
Your family veterinarian can examine your pet and determine whether advanced dental care or referral to Alberta Veterinary Dentistry is needed.
You may schedule directly with our General Dentistry Service. A veterinarian will evaluate your pet’s oral health, discuss treatment options, and determine the most appropriate care plan.
If specialized treatment is required, we will coordinate the next steps with our Specialty Dentistry Service.
Collaboration with Your Veterinarian

Alberta Veterinary Dentistry works in partnership with your primary veterinarian to ensure your pet receives the most appropriate dental care.
As a locally owned specialty practice, we are committed to supporting the veterinarians and pet owners of our community.
Our goal is not to replace your family veterinarian, but to provide routine and advanced dental care when it is needed.
Together we ensure your pet receives:
-
The right diagnosis
-
The right treatment
-
The right level of care
