Refer a Patient for Dentistry/Oral Surgery Treatment

The doctors at Alberta Veterinary Dentistry recommend a serum chemistry panel, complete blood count, and urinalysis as a minimum database prior to general anesthesia for all patients >3 years of age. We encourage the primary veterinarians to perform these diagnostic tests and conduct further testing regarding any systemic abnormalities that arise from such testing PRIOR to submitting a referral for anesthetized dental treatment. Furthermore, we rely on the primary veterinarian to discuss the diagnosis and prognosis of patient comorbidities with their clients prior to referral in order to provide the most meaningful consultation with the staff at Alberta Veterinary Dentistry.

If deemed appropriate, Alberta Veterinary Dentistry will refer the client and patient back to the referring veterinarian for diagnosis, stabilization, and maintenance of systemic diseases in the pre-operative and/or post-operative period.
